The Bible version used on this site is a public domain version.  The version is public domain, but the name is not, so the name is trademarked as the World English Bible (TM).  While the name is trademarked, the verses themselves are in the public domain, so the verses are free to use.  This disclaimer notice simplifies having to give reference to the version every time it is used; it is meant to cover all the instances of use.
